Spring Landscaping 101
Spring is quickly approaching and one thing we love in Colorado is spending time outdoors. Our homes are our sanctuaries and it's just as important to keep our outdoor spaces as nice as we keep the rest of our home. Here are a few tips on how to approach your landscaping and prepare your property this spring from Clarke Colwell, Owner of Premier Custom Landscapes LLC.
Spring is a great time to aerate and dethatch your lawn. Aerating improves root health, air exchange, and helps optimize soil nutrients. Dethatching removes the layer of decayed grass, which helps water and fertilizer nutrients to reach the soil.
Another tip for a green and healthy lawn is to apply the correct fertilizer. A slow-release fertilizer helps prevent the risk of fertilizer burn, while adding nutrients to your grass for an extended period of time.
Inspect your sprinkler system to insure there are no leaks and that all of your sprinklers are providing full coverage to your yard.
Many different types of shrubs and hedges do best when pruned in the spring. Spring pruning doesn’t just improve curb appeal but it can also promote new and healthy growth.
