Summer Colorado Staycations
Looking for a getaway this summer without having to travel too far or break the bank in the process? Luckily in Colorado, we have so many fun staycation options nearby from relaxing mountain towns to family-friendly destinations, water adventures, city escapes, and more!
Here is a short list of some Colorado destinations to plan your summer staycation:
Glenwood Springs
A great place to visit in the summer whether you’re looking for a family vacation, a friend’s weekend, or spending time with your loved one. There is plenty to do in Glenwood Springs including soaking at the hot springs, relaxing in the vapor caves or booking a spa treatment, touring the underground caverns, dining at one of the many restaurants, hiking to Hanging Lake, riding the alpine coaster, fishing the Colorado River and more! You can also stay at the historic (and haunted) Colorado Hotel or stay at The Hotel Denver for a more modern feel.
Durango
A gem in southwest Colorado, there is something for everyone in Durango! This is a great place to visit if you love outdoor adventure with whitewater rafting, mountain biking, ziplining, hiking, and fishing right at your fingertips. If you enjoy sightseeing, hop on the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad tour, visit Mesa Verde National Park, or take a drive through the beautiful San Juan Mountains. In town, you can enjoy some great food, check out the local breweries, and visit the Railroad Museum.
Denver
Sometimes you just need to spend a few days in the city! Good food, great entertainment, and plenty to do and see… you can’t go wrong with a Denver staycation. If you’re going to spend some time in the city, you might as well make it luxurious. Check out one of the hotels with a rooftop pool, perfect for summer, like the Warwick, Halycon in Cherry Creek, or The Rally. During the day you can catch a baseball game at Coors Field, explore the Denver Museum of Nature & Science, or stroll around the Denver Botanic Gardens. At night you can hit the town for Happy Hour at Work & Class, Stout Street Social, or Culinary Dropout.
Hopefully one of these destinations sounds fun for your summer staycation! Of course, there are plenty of other wonderful places in Colorado to visit, which is why we love living here so much!
