Surviving Seasonal Changes In Colorado
If you’ve lived in Colorado for any amount of time, you know by now that the weather here is everchanging and unpredictable. We see warm sunny days in the middle of winter, and freezing rain or snow in late spring. For us Coloradans, this is normal. Yet, year after year we somehow find ourselves shocked and unprepared when a shift in the weather happens suddenly.
Furthermore, when the first days of a new season arrive, it can be like we are experiencing all the seasons at once. Take spring for example, we wake up to what feels like a brisk spring morning, the temperature rises and we are suddenly enjoying (or hiding from) summer heat, followed by a short spring shower, and by nightfall, the temperature has dropped down to a winter chill.
Because of the constant change in temperature and conditions we experience here, I have put together a short list of survival items to have with you at all times:
In the house:
Access to a fan
Access to a fireplace
Cozy socks
Popsicles
Warm soup
Cold medicine
Allergy medicine
In your car/go bag:
Water
Hot chocolate
A raincoat
A warm coat
A tank top
Wool socks
Sandals
Sunglasses
Sunscreen
A warm hat/beanie
A sun hat
While this blog is all fun and games, it is good to prepared for anything and everything here in Colorado!
Luckily, there are plenty of things to do in Longmont and Boulder County, both indoors and outdoors, all year round no matter the season.
I hope you all are enjoying this truly Colorado spring weather, with sunshine one day, snow the next, and even a bit of rain sprinkled in here and there.
